Dauby works with natural materials such as bronze and wrought iron. These are metal alloys that have been used by craftsmen for centuries.
EACH PRODUCT IS UNIQUE
The Dauby retro range is entirely handmade. First, the metal is cast in sand moulds. Subsequently, the products are finished by hand. This technique was first used by the Tartessians 3000 years before Christ and is continued today by Dauby.
The casting process in sand moulds gives the fittings a grainy surface which as a result shows small imperfections. This makes each piece unique, giving it an artisanal old look. It provides the products with an authentic and, above all, timeless character that distinguishes them from mass-produced goods. Over time, the product acquires a natural and increasingly beautiful patina. The older the product, the more valuable it will appear.
Dauby guarantees a long lifespan for its products. In the traditional casting process, only natural and recyclable materials are used. The natural ageing process of these materials creates the typical ‘living finish’. The colour shades become even more intense as the product ages.
